Vladimer Kwaitkowski, (left) Pat McMahon and Bill Thompson made up the cast of characters of the once popular "Wallace & Ladmo Show." Wallace and Ladmo were on KPHO-TV, Channel 5, for 35 years, making it among the longest-running shows in broadcast television history.

Aug., 2006: Pat McMahon sits in front of a picture of himself playing Gerald from the Wallace and Ladmo show. Kids booed the tantrum-throwing Gerald whenever he appeared on stage. Gerald was the "spoiled rich nephew of the station owner," and attended private schools. He had a knack for getting Ladmo in trouble with Wallace. McMahon played a host of other characters on the show.... Amazo the Magician, Aunt Maud, Bobby Joe Trouble, Boffo The Clown, Captain Super, Carney Barker, Hub Kapp, Marshall Good, Nuru The Guru, The Wizard and many characters from the Time Machine.

A Ladmo Bag was given out to several lucky seat winners at every show. Inside were goodies from sponors, like Shasta soda and Lays Potato Chips. Winning a Ladmo Bag was like winning the lottery to any Phoenix-area kid.

1974 publicity photo. (Left to right) Wallace (Bill Thompson), Gerald (Pat McMahon), and Ladmo (Ladimir Kwiatkowski). McMahon's character, Gerald, was the show's sissy, the spoiled nephew of the never-seen station manager, who loved homework, among other unpopular pasttimes. Kids booed the moment he walked on the stage. He would then hurl insults at them, perhaps by calling them "public school brats."

1972: Bashi, a two-year-old spot nosed monkey from Africa, was a regular for a while on the show, and belonged to Kwiatkowski's son, Robin. Notice Ladmo's tie is now painted on, which drew ribs from Wallace over the years.
