So long, Coach.

More than a thousand people, including family, friends, former players and fans, filled St. Timothy Catholic Community in Mesa, Arizona on July 26 to pay their respects to Lowell "Cotton" Fitzsimmons. The NBA coaching legend passed away on July 24 at the age of 72 due to complications from lung cancer.

The jitters

Just saw Matt Damon's new film "The Bourne Supremacy." A note to the directors: $20 buys a sturdy tripod, guys... Two hours of the handheld "Blair Witch Project" approach is excessive.

Loss

One of the coolest people I've ever met learned Tuesday she is being recalled, redeployed to the Army. Not wanting to go, the strength and integrity she has displayed since learning of this news is nothing short of amazing. Regardless of political affiliation, what we think of the war or our president, supporting our troops shouldn't be an issue of debate. These men and women have volunteered to put their lives on the line for the U.S. with all of its faults and blessings that many often overlook. My friend being recalled, and many others like her, honorably served their time on active duty, and now are being literally yanked from their lives and asked to risk their lives again. And they demonstrate courage, integrity and faith that each of us can learn from, and be proud of. These traits transcend war and political affiliation.

Me and four of my good friends offer the long awaited bowling report. On location at AMF Lanes in Portland, Oregon these four fine bowling commentators bring you this, the very best coverage.

Music

I came accross this great program called "Nicecast" and it allows you to basically have your own radio station broadcast over the net. I know there won't be crowds gathering around computer stations at Best Buy fighting to hear what song I'll play next, or hear me rant about a trade my beloved Phoenix Suns made, but... still. I think its pretty neat. You can visit Nicecast (no.. I don't work for them..) and you can visit my humble little radio station. Its not on all the time, but when it is, maybe you'll hear a song you like, and no commercials!

Into the great wide open...

Borrowing a line from Tom Petty. I had to see what this blog phenomenon was all about. Thanks for stopping by, and I'd love to know your thoughts about anything and everything. You can talk about what I've said, what you'd like to say, what someone else has said, or an random variation in between. And then theres just those who like to just read. Groovy. I can't say how long I'll keep this site here, or how often I'll use it, time will tell. Again, thanks for stopping by my little bloggies.
